On 7 October 2026, the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) hosted the Educational Requirements Seminar (ERS), bringing together delegations from Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania with BALTDEFCOL leadership and faculty.
The seminar opened with remarks by the Commandant, Brigadier General Egils Leščinskis, followed by a review of the 2023 session and subsequent discussions. The core focus centred on BALTDEFCOL's main courses, graduate feedback, and the specific requirements outlined by the framework nations.
As the principal forum for strategic guidance, the ERS enables framework nations to define educational and research objectives, priorities, and tasks. Held every three years, the seminar ensures that the College's activities continuously adapt to the evolving needs of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.
Reflecting on the event, the Dean welcomed the framework nations' endorsement of initiatives designed to strengthen BALTDEFCOL's academic and research foundations. Support for developing a more robust research ecosystem and establishing an Advisory Board highlights a shared commitment to maintaining operational relevance and enhancing quality assurance through wider stakeholder engagement.
