BALTDEFCOL Hosts Joint Meeting of the Baltic Assembly Committees

On 16 January, the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) was honoured to host a joint meeting of the Education, Science and Culture Committee and the Security and Defence Committee of the Baltic Assembly. The meeting brought together parliamentarians, regional experts, and international guests to discuss the evolution of security and defence education and to foster enhanced research collaboration within the field.

The high-level delegation included Mr Karolis Aleksa, Vice Minister of National Defence of the Republic of Lithuania, and Major General (Ret.) Meelis Kiili, former Commandant of BALTDEFCOL (2010–2012).

The delegation was officially welcomed by the Commandant of BALTDEFCOL, Brigadier General Alvydas Šiuparis, and the Dean, Ms Tiia-Triin Truusa.

The visit provided a premier platform to present BALTDEFCOL’s mission, vision, and diverse portfolio of professional military educational programmes to a high-level audience. This presentation was followed by an engaging Q&A session, where participants discussed the current security environment and the role of academic institutions in bolstering regional resilience.
Following the briefing, the programme continued with the internal deliberative sessions of the Baltic Assembly committees.
