On 21 January, the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) hosted a visit by Major General Ruprecht von Butler, Commander of the NATO Joint Warfare Centre (JWC).
MG von Butler was welcomed by the Commandant of BALTDEFCOL, BG Alvydas Šiuparis; the Deputy Commandant and Chief of Staff, COL Jonathan Huxley; the Director of the Department of Military Studies, COL Toomas Möls; and NATO Joint Operations Lecturer, LTC (ret) Albertas Kondrotas.
The visit began with an office call to discuss further areas of cooperation and continued with a briefing on BALTDEFCOL’s mission, strategic vision, and professional military education programmes.
During the visit, Major General von Butler also delivered a lecture to the Higher Command Studies Course 2026 entitled “Training for the Next War: How JWC delivers readiness for strategic and operational headquarters”.The lecture was followed by a Q&A session, providing students with the opportunity to engage in a discussion with the Commander.
