Danish Foreign Policy Society Explores Regional Security at BALTDEFCOL


On 14 May 2026, the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) hosted a high-level delegation from the Danish Foreign Policy Society. The visit focused on deepening the guests' understanding of the evolving security and geopolitical landscape within the Baltic region.

The delegation, led by Ms Charlotte Flindt Pedersen, Director of the Danish Foreign Policy Society, consisted of 31 members with diverse professional backgrounds spanning science, state governance, politics, and media. 

The visit commenced with a comprehensive briefing by the Commandant, Brigadier General Alvydas Šiuparis, who provided an overview of the College’s mission, its role in professional military education, and its contribution to multinational cooperation within NATO and the EU.

The core of the visit was dedicated to an in-depth discussion regarding the current security situation in the
Baltic area. The academic faculty, represented by the Dean, Dr Tiia-Triin Truusa, alongside Dr George Spencer
Terry and Dr Dumitru Minzarari, engaged the delegation in a robust exchange of ideas. The discussions covered regional geopolitical dynamics and the strategic challenges currently facing the Baltic States and their Nordic allies.

Events like these underscore the Baltic Defence College’s role as a vital hub for strategic dialogue, fostering a shared understanding of security challenges among international partners and civil society leaders.
