On 7 May 2026, the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) had the honour of hosting H.E. Mr. Iván Medveczky, the Ambassador of Hungary to Estonia, accompanied by Mr. Tamás József Orosz, Deputy Head of Mission. The delegation was welcomed by Brigadier General Alvydas Šiuparis, the Commandant of the Baltic Defence College.
The primary objective of the visit was to introduce the Ambassador to the College’s mission, its pivotal role in professional military education, and its contributions to regional security within the framework of the Baltic states and NATO.
During the engagement, the Commandant and the Ambassador discussed the long-standing cooperation between Hungary and BALTDEFCOL. A key focus of the dialogue was potential Hungarian participation in the College’s core courses and diverse educational programmes. Ambassador Medveczky expressed his strong intention to evaluate and explore avenues for increased Hungarian involvement in the College's academic activities in the future.
The Ambassador of Hungary to Estonia, Mr Iván Medveczky, submitted his credentials to the President of Estonia, Mr Alar Karis, on 26 January 2026. This visit to BALTDEFCOL reaffirms the importance of international partnerships and the shared commitment to security and defence education in the region.
