From 8 to 12 June, participants of the Joint Command and General Staff Course (JCGSC) and Civil Servants’ Course (CSC) concluded the academic year with their capstone activity — the International Study Trip (IST).

The participants visited key NATO and EU organisations across Europe, including SHAPE, NATO HQ, the operational headquarters JFC Brunssum and JFC Naples, as well as specialised institutions and commands such as Allied SOFCOM, NATO Defense College, NATO AEW&C Force, Army Concepts and Capabilities Development Centre, Centre for High Defence Studies CASD, and Operation EUNAVFOR MED IRINI.

Beyond high-level briefings on deterrence, regional security, and the military applications of AI, the programme bridged theory with history. Powerful case studies at Fort Eben-Emael and Monte Cassino offered timeless lessons in leadership, resilience, and operational art.

This intensive week effectively validated 11 months of rigorous academic preparation and further strengthened our students’ readiness to operate in complex multinational environments.
