Today, on 1 June 2026, the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) presented the Baltic Defence College Medal of Merit Gold to His Excellency Emmanuel Mignot, the Ambassador of France to Estonia.
Underscoring the immediate relevance of this recognition, Ambassador Mignot is at the Baltic Defence College today to support BALTDEFCOL's educational mission by delivering a specialised lecture to the Higher Command Studies Course (HCSC), focusing on French deterrence and defence.
The prestigious decoration was awarded in recognition of his significant contributions to professional military education and international diplomatic cooperation. The official citation outlines his impact across three distinct areas:
- Outstanding contribution to the Baltic Defence College’s mission and international profile through strategic lectures on key courses (including the Higher Command Studies Course), fostering a deeper understanding of contemporary security challenges among multinational participants.
- Strengthening Franco-Baltic cooperation and academic integration by initiating the placement of a French faculty member, enhancing the quality of professional military education and supporting multinational teaching staff.
- Sustained diplomatic engagement promoting NATO/EU defence collaboration, reinforcing Baltic Defence College’s educational mission and standing within the international defence community.
The physical presentation of the medal, coupled with his academic contribution today, highlights the robust and active relationship between France and the Baltic Defence College in developing future strategic leaders.
