Colonel Jonathan Huxley
Deputy Commandant / Chief of Staff
Colonel Jonathan Huxley graduated from the United Kingdom’s Royal Air Force College in 1999. He served seven years in various junior officer appointments in the RAF’s ground defence organisation, culminating in an exchange posting as a platoon commander at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
He subsequently transferred to the British Army and has served at regimental duty with both battalions of the Royal Irish Regiment as adjutant, company commander and battalion second-in-command. On the staff, he has been an aide-de-camp, plans and training plans officer, directing staff at an overseas staff college, and a military assistant in a NATO Theatre Component Command. He has served on operations in Northern Ireland, Iraq, Afghanistan and Mali. He commanded the British Army’s Infantry Training Centre from January 2021 to July 2023.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Archaeology from the University of Nottingham and a master’s in Defence Studies from King’s College London. He completed the Advanced Command and Staff Course 22 at the United Kingdom Joint Services Command and Staff College in 2019. He assumed the appointment of Deputy Commandant and Chief of Staff of the Baltic Defence College in February 2025.
